What is a Street Fighter? Street fighters are a kind of martial artist who have mastered street fighting. They use their skills to protect themselves and their loved ones from any form of attack, but they do it in a way that's not illegal or against the law. Street fighter training is designed to teach an individual how to fight on the streets with both weapons and bare hands. (image) Street Fighter is a series of video games that has been developed by Capcom in which the player controls either Ryu or Ken. Both characters are known to use their fists, feet, and/or weapons to fight their opponent. The game was released in 1987 in arcades, where it was an instant hit. A new version of the same game was released for home consoles which featured several new moves not found on the arcade version, including new characters and bosses. Street Fighter II introduced more characters and completely revamped the graphics of Ryu and Ken's respective special moves. By its third installment Street Fighter III Turbo, Capcom changed the appearance of Ryu once more by giving him his trademark red headband while adding Akuma to his character roster. The character roster for this installment was so large that Capcom was forced to give it a subtitle, "Champion Edition". Street Fighter IV gave the players a chance to play as one of the original cast from previous installments in addition to being able to play as Akuma. Street Fighter X Tekken is a crossover fighting video game in the Street Fighter series and published by Capcom. The game is a crossover between Capcom's Street Fighter franchise and Namco-Bandai's Tekken series, hence the title. The game was announced on August 14th at the 2011 Comic-Con. The game was released in the arcades in August 2011, and for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September 2011. A port for the Nintendo 3DS was announced on April 8, 2012. The game is available exclusively in Japan. As of January 23, 2014, there are 125 playable characters divided into 10 different character classes. Each character has one super move that can be used by pressing two buttons simultaneously, one after another to string it together with all kinds of combos. Most of the playable characters were created especially for this game by Capcom's Yoshinori Ono in collaboration with Tekken's Naoto Ohshima. In addition to the main storyline, there is a story mode for most of the characters. Tekken series' main character, Jin Kazama returns as a boss for this game. Special stages are battle challenges that pit the player against another giant robot. The stages include a stage that features all of Tekken 5's characters going at it and a second that contains only Spike and the other Street Fighter characters. Street Fighter X Tekken also includes two new modes: survival mode and time attack mode. In survival mode, players fight to last as long as possible against increasingly difficult opponents without losing health or energy gauges from getting hit.
